Privacy Policy

Summary
SubTrack is a local-first Chrome extension. Your subscription tracking data stays on your device — no cloud sync. Premium purchases and license management are handled by Polar. SubTrack does not use advertising, analytics, or user profiling.
Information we store
The information SubTrack keeps on your device is what you enter: your subscriptions (name, price, billing cycle, renewal date, and optional category or notes), your settings, and the internal state needed to schedule reminders. If you activate Premium, your license key is stored locally too. Tracking subscriptions never requires a name, email, or account.
Local browser storage
Your subscriptions, settings, and any license key are stored on your computer through Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. We don't run a server or database, so your subscription data is never sent to us. A license key may be sent to Polar to verify Premium (see below).
SubTrack requests three Chrome permissions:
- storage — to save your subscriptions and settings locally
- alarms — to schedule daily renewal checks
- notifications — to remind you before a renewal
Payments & licensing
SubTrack is free to use. A one-time Premium upgrade may be offered through Polar. If you choose to buy it, payment and license management are handled by Polar on their own checkout — SubTrack never sees or stores your card details. Polar stores your purchase and license information (such as your email and license key), which we may be able to view as the seller. Within the extension, only your license key is stored locally to unlock Premium, and it may be checked with Polar to confirm it is valid.
Third-party services
SubTrack does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. If Premium is activated, SubTrack may contact Polar to verify your license key. Their handling of payments is covered by Polar's privacy policy.
Data sharing
We don't sell, rent, or share your subscription data — it lives only on your device, and we never receive it. Any purchase and license data is held by Polar, as described above; we don't sell or share that either.
Security
Because your subscription data stays in your browser, there is no central database of it for anyone to breach. It is protected by your own device and operating system — as with any local file, keeping your computer and browser secure keeps it secure. Purchase and license data is kept by Polar under their own security practices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated, and meaningful changes will be reflected here. Since SubTrack keeps your subscription data on your device, updates will usually be minor wording clarifications.
